Fitting Triple Weber DCNF Carburettors

This modification is the old school unltimate setup for the V6 Essex. Originally introduced by Swaymar in the 1970's, this was the way to get ultimate power from the engine.

This is a quick run through of the steps needed to get the manifold fitted to your Essex V6. The manifold I fitted to my TVR was the Ric Wood supplied manifold, taken from the original Swaymar Casting. This had a slight issue with the front carb platform where there was a slightly offset stud location, meaning a small amount of grinding out of the manifold was needed to allow the front carb to flow correctly. Please note that since fitting, I found that the carbs are better fitted the other way round, as they can run lean after heavy braking if fitted this way. So, take this as a guide, but remember to fir the carbs the other way round!

Take-off in place, also temp sender fitted. Note these were all blanks & required drilling & tapping.

Choke cable bracket fitted. I later decided this wasn't needed as the engine ran fine when cold.

As no air filter exists for the TVR with this setup, Back in the day i made a cardboard template, so I could cut out the aluminium air filter baseplate. These days I would have 3D printed a template. See my shop for templates - I will be listing these soon. I already have carb gaskets in stock for the DCNF carbs, and also the standard 38DGAS - including manifold gaskets.
